Fernando Rocha, PACFA Reg. Certified Practicing, M.A.C.A (Level 2)
I am a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Sydney, with a strong foundation in psychoanalysis built over more than twenty years of dedicated study and practice. My professional background allows me to work with people from diverse cultural and personal experiences, supporting them through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.
I hold a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and a Graduate Certificate in Clinical Psychology with a major in Psychoanalysis. I am currently completing a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy to continue refining and expanding my clinical expertise. I am a registered member of both the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
At the heart of my practice is a commitment to creating a supportive, respectful, and confidential therapeutic space where each person can feel heard, understood, and engaged in their own process of discovery. I value the importance of the therapeutic relationship as a place where insight and transformation can occur. Working collaboratively, I aim to support clients in fostering self-understanding, resilience, and a more meaningful connection to their lives and relationships.

Vision | The Underthought Psychoanalysis Practice Sydney
The vision of The Underthought Psychoanalysis Practice is to create a therapeutic space where individuals feel safe to speak freely and explore their inner world—free from fear of judgement. At its heart, this vision honours the universal human need for acceptance, empathy, and understanding in a world that can often feel overwhelming or unkind.
By cultivating an environment grounded in respect, inclusivity, and compassion, the practice aims to support personal healing and emotional wellbeing while celebrating the richness of individuality and diversity. Each person’s unique story is valued, and through this recognition, the therapeutic encounter becomes a space for growth, connection, and renewal.
Ultimately, this vision extends beyond the therapy room—to contribute to a more compassionate society where the acts of listening, understanding, and embracing difference foster meaningful and lasting change in people’s lives.
